TPS Resident, Fellow & Medical Student Advocacy Day

The Annual TPS Advocacy Day is February 26, 2020!

Check out TPS Facebook page for pictures from the 2019 event.

The Texas Pediatric Society (TPS), the Texas Chapter of the AAP welcomed 63 TPS fellows, residents, and medical students from across the state for a unique advocacy experience in 2019. TPS members served as team leaders to lead 12 groups on 40 legislative visits. Overall 75 TPS members called upon legislators at the Capitol.

The purpose of this event is to engage the next generation of pediatricians in the legislative process by providing the knowledge, skills, and opportunity to successfully advocate on behalf of your patients and the profession of medicine.

This full day of interactive activities will teach participants how to be an effective advocate for Texas children. The morning will include presentations from experts, lawmakers and fellow physicians on the ins-and-outs of making your voice heard at the Capitol. Then, attendees will put their skills into practice by walking over to the State Capitol for office visits with lawmakers and staff on key policy priorities of the Texas Pediatric Society.

The event is complimentary for TPS resident, fellow and medical student members, but registration is required. Registration information will be available in early 2020.

Agenda items will include:
