The Texas Pediatric Society (TPS), the Texas Chapter of the AAP, and the Children’s Hospital Association of Texas (CHAT) welcomed 83 TPS fellows, residents, medical students and pediatricians from across the state for a unique advocacy experience on March 21st in Austin. TPS members served as team leaders to lead 20 groups on 40 legislative visits.
This full-day of interactive activities included a keynote address from Representative John H. Bucy, III. The key advocacy issue of the day focused on Lane Eligibility to Insure Children. Participants were also provided an orientation on effective advocacy and a highlight of important legislative issues tackled in the previous session. The day concluded with team visits to the Texas Capitol to share these priorities with lawmakers and key legislative staff.
The purpose of this event is to engage the next generation of pediatricians in the legislative process by providing the knowledge, skills, and opportunity to successfully advocate on behalf of your patients and the profession of medicine.
Thank you CHAT for the generous co-sponsorship!
