Congratulations to the 17 Baby-Friendly Hospitals in Texas

In honor of World Breastfeeding Week, the Texas Pediatric Society, the Texas Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, would like to extend sincere congratulations and appreciation to 17 hospitals in Texas for the outstanding achievement of becoming a Baby-Friendly designated hospital. The American Academy of Pediatrics, World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Institute of Medicine, and American Academy of Family Physicians all endorse breastfeeding as providing the optimal nutrition for infants.  Following the practices outlined in the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative has been shown to significantly improve breastfeeding success. 

The Texas Pediatric Society acknowledges the hard work and dedication of each hospital’s team to achieve Baby-Friendly recognition.  This accomplishment demonstrates their commitment to excellence and to improving the health of infants and children in Texas.
